The bird genus Geronticus
consists of two species in the ibis subfamily Threskiornithinae. These are the
Northern Bald Ibis, found around the Mediterranean and classed as
"Critically Endangered", and the Southern Bald Ibis, found in
Southern Africa and classed as "Vulnerable".
